Every PrizePicks slip asks you the same question before you submit it: Power Play or Flex Play? The choice decides how your entry pays out. Power Play is all-or-nothing. Every leg has to hit, and in return you get the bigger multiplier. Flex Play still pays something when you miss a leg, trading that top-end payout for a partial-win safety net. This guide shows what each one pays, what happens when a leg ties or a player sits, and which structure fits the slip you are building.

Power Play pays a higher multiplier but requires all of your picks to win. Flex Play lowers that top payout and adds consolation tiers, so a slip that goes 5-of-6 still returns money instead of zero. Power is the high-variance, max-upside play. Flex is the lower-variance grind with a lower break-even bar. Neither is "better" on its own. The right one depends on how confident you are in every single leg.

That single picture is the whole trade-off. Now here is how each side of it works.
Power Play is a straight parlay. You pick 2 to 6 player projections, choose more or less on each, and every one has to land. Miss a single leg and the entry loses. In exchange for that all-or-nothing demand, Power pays the largest multipliers on the board.

A 6-pick Power turning $20 into $750 is the payout that gets screenshotted. What the screenshot leaves out is how often six legs all hit. That is the tension every Power Play carries: the multiplier is real, and so is the wall of variance behind it.
Flex Play keeps the same picks but changes the payout rules. Instead of one all-or-nothing outcome, Flex adds consolation tiers, so hitting most of your legs still returns something. The top payout drops to make room for that safety net.
Take a 6-pick Flex. Instead of 37.5x for all six legs, it pays 25x for 6-of-6, 2x for 5-of-6, and 0.4x for 4-of-6. Go 3-of-6 or worse and it loses, just like Power. Here is the full PrizePicks Flex ladder:

Two things stand out. First, Flex starts at 3 picks. A 2-pick slip is Power only, because there is no room for a consolation tier when missing one leg leaves just one. Second, the consolation payouts are small. A 5-of-6 on Flex pays 2x, so on a $20 entry you get $40 back, not a windfall. Flex is not built for the big hit. It is built to keep you in the game across a long run of slips.
This is the rule most new players get surprised by. If one of your projections lands right on the line (a push or tie) or the player does not play at all (a DNP), that leg is not a loss. PrizePicks voids it and reprices the whole entry to the next slip down.
A 4-pick Power with one DNP becomes a 3-pick Power, and it pays the 3-pick multiplier if the remaining three legs hit. A 6-pick Flex with a tie becomes a 5-pick Flex, with the 5-pick payout table. The leg is removed, not counted against you, and the slip shrinks by one.
That matters for how you read a payout before you submit. The multiplier you see assumes every leg gets graded. A late scratch can quietly turn your 6-pick into a 5-pick and change the number you are actually playing for. Rules like these do change, so confirm the current terms in the PrizePicks app before you rely on them.
The payout tables already point at the answer. Flex slips carry a lower break-even, the average per-leg win rate an entry needs just to break even over the long run, because the consolation tiers do some of the work. Power slips demand a higher win rate on every leg because one miss zeroes everything.
Neither choice creates an edge on its own. The multiplier structure is fixed, and PrizePicks builds a margin into every slip. PrizePicks also lets you take adjusted projections on either structure. A green goblin shifts the line to an easier number for a lower multiplier. A red demon shifts it to a harder number for a higher one. They are not a different game, just a different line at a different price, and they work the same on Power and Flex.
Treat them like any other leg: a goblin is only worth it if its true probability still clears the lower break-even its smaller multiplier creates, and a demon only pays off if the harder line is genuinely reachable.
