Adding & editing bets

How to manually add a wager to the Bet Tracker and edit any of its fields after the fact, including the free-bet flag, tags, and notes.

Manually adding a wager

Every bet taken through a SmartStake tool is automatically added to the Bet Tracker. If you placed a wager outside the app — or want to record a straight single you tracked manually — use the Add Bet button in the top-left of the tracker. It opens the Add Bet modal, which is a single-page form covering all the fields needed to record a complete wager.

The Add Bet modal applies only to single-leg wagers. Parlays entered through the take flow have their own form; manual parlay entry is not available through this modal.

Fields in the Add Bet modal

Both the Add Bet and Edit Bet modals share the same field grid.

  • Bookmaker — the book or exchange where you placed the bet. Select from the list; the list covers all books in your SmartStake setup.
  • Event — a free-text description of the game or match (for example, "Warriors vs Lakers"). Capped at 200 characters.
  • Market — the market type for the bet (for example, "Player Points"). Capped at 200 characters.
  • Bet — the specific selection within that market (for example, "Stephen Curry Over 29.5"). Capped at 200 characters.
  • Odds — the price you received. The input honours whichever odds format you have set in your preferences (American, decimal, or fractional) and converts to decimal internally.
  • Stake — the amount wagered. Must be zero or greater; enter 0 if you are recording a free bet with no stake at risk.
  • Status — the current outcome: Pending, Won, Lost, Push, Void, or Cashed Out. New manual bets default to Pending.
  • Bet Type — whether the bet was placed pregame or live.
  • Start Date — the scheduled event start time (optional). Providing this date lets the autograder determine when a game is finished and flag the wager for grading.
  • Freebet — marks the wager as a free bet, meaning your stake is not returned on a win. When set to Yes, the payout calculation changes: you receive only the profit portion (stake multiplied by the decimal odds minus 1) rather than stake plus profit. See Bet grading & outcomes for how this affects the settled payout.
  • Notes — an optional free-text field, up to 200 characters, for any context you want to keep with the wager.
  • Tags — labels you attach to group the wager (for example, EV or Boost). Search your existing tags or create a new one inline; whatever you pick is saved with the bet. See Organizing with tags.

The same Tags field appears in every take flow

Tagging is not unique to this form — the same search-or-create picker sits in every take flow (Positive EV, Smart Money, Insiders, Lineup Dropper, parlays, fantasy slips, and matched bets) so you can label a bet the moment you record it. Promo Converter bets are still auto-stamped with tags like Free Bet and Hedge on top of anything you add. See Organizing with tags for the full picture.

Editing an existing wager

To edit a single wager, click the pencil icon on the bet card. On mobile, tapping anywhere on the card opens the same Edit Bet modal. The Edit Bet modal presents the same fields as the Add Bet modal.

There is one important difference: if the wager was originally taken through a SmartStake tool (rather than added manually), the Event, Market, and Bet fields are locked and cannot be changed. All other fields — Bookmaker, Odds, Stake, Status, Bet Type, Start Date, Freebet, and Notes — remain editable regardless of how the wager was created.

Saving the edit fires a single update. For singles, the status you set is derived from the leg directly, which keeps the wager outcome and the underlying leg in sync. If you need to record a payout that does not match what automatic grading would produce — for example, after a cashout or a book error — use the manual override available from the grading controls rather than setting the status here. See Bet grading & outcomes for details on overrides.

Parlay legs

Editing a parlay works differently. The Edit Parlay modal (opened from the parlay card header) lets you adjust the combined stake, combined odds, the free-bet flag, and notes. Individual legs within a parlay cannot be edited through the modal; their outcome is set per-leg through the grading controls on each leg row. See Bet grading & outcomes for how per-leg grading rolls up into the overall parlay result.
