Managing your subscription
How to change your billing plan, update your payment method, view invoices, and cancel or reactivate a Premium subscription from the manage-subscription page.
Where to find it
The manage-subscription page is reachable from your profile. Open the profile page, find the subscription card, and click Manage Subscription. The page shows your current plan, next billing date, payment method on file, and recent invoices.
Your current plan
The top card shows the plan name, billing interval (weekly, monthly, or yearly), the next billing date, and your current status. If your subscription is in a free trial, the card shows your trial end date instead of a billing date. If a discount is active on your account, the next charge amount is shown alongside the full price.
Upgrading your plan
If you are on a weekly or monthly plan, an Upgrade Plan button appears in the top card. Yearly subscribers do not see it because yearly is the highest commitment tier.
Clicking Upgrade Plan sends you to the Stripe billing portal, where you choose your new plan, enter a promo code if you have one, and review the charge before confirming. The prorated difference between your old and new plan is charged immediately rather than waiting until your next renewal date.
Payment method and invoices
The Payment & Invoices card shows the payment method currently on file and a list of recent invoices. Each invoice entry displays the date, invoice number, and amount paid, with a link to view the full invoice hosted on Stripe.
To update your card, change billing details, or view the complete invoice history, click Manage Payment & Invoices. This opens the Stripe billing portal, which handles all payment data directly — SmartStake never stores or processes card numbers.
Stripe handles all payment details
SmartStake does not collect or store payment information. Updating your card or reviewing billing history happens inside Stripe's hosted portal, which you reach from this page.
Canceling your subscription
Click Cancel Subscription to open the cancellation flow. The first step asks you to select a reason for canceling — this is required before you can continue.
Depending on your account, you may then see one or two additional steps before the cancellation is confirmed:
- Legacy price warning — if you are on a pricing plan that is no longer available to new subscribers, SmartStake shows a notice explaining that canceling means you cannot rejoin at the same price. A retention offer, if one is available for your account, is presented here as well.
- Retention offer — if a discount offer applies to your account and has not already been redeemed, SmartStake presents it before finalizing the cancellation. Accepting it applies the discount to your next billing cycle and keeps the subscription active; you do not need to do anything further.
If you skip both and proceed, SmartStake cancels the subscription at the end of the current billing period. Your access continues until that date — the confirmation screen shows exactly when it ends. The Cancel Subscription button is replaced with a Don't Cancel Subscription button, which you can click at any time before the period ends to undo the cancellation.
Access continues until period end
Canceling stops the next charge but does not cut off access immediately. You keep full Premium access through the date shown on the confirmation screen.
Reactivating after canceling
If you have canceled but your billing period has not yet ended, the top card shows a cancellation badge and a Don't Cancel Subscription button. Clicking it restores the subscription to its normal renewal state — your next billing date becomes the original period-end date, and future charges resume on schedule.
Once the period end date passes and the subscription expires, reactivation is not available from this page. You would need to subscribe again from the plans and pricing page.
