Organizing with tags

How tags label and group the wagers in your Bet Tracker — creating them on the fly when you take a bet, applying them in bulk, and curating them in the Tag Manager.

What a tag is

A tag is a label you own and attach to entries in your Bet Tracker to group them by whatever scheme makes sense to you — EV, Boost, Player Prop, Tuesday NBA, anything. Tags are not a fixed list handed to you by SmartStake; you create them as you go, and they belong to your account.

Every tag has two things: a name and a colour. The name is stored exactly as you type it, and matching is case-insensitive — EV and ev are the same tag, so you can never accidentally create two copies that differ only in case. The colour is drawn from a fixed palette chosen to be visually distinct and deliberately meaning-neutral: tag colours are for telling tags apart at a glance, not for signalling whether a bet won or lost.

A tag can sit on any number of wagers, and a wager can carry any number of tags. Tags attach to wagers — the bets in your tracker, including promo bonuses (recorded as free-bet wagers) — and the tracker treats them as one set when you filter.

Adding tags when you take a bet

Every take flow now has a Tags field, so you can label a bet at the moment you record it rather than going back to edit it afterward. This covers the full set of entry points:

  • Add Bet — the manual single-bet form in the tracker.
  • Positive EV, Smart Money, Insiders, and Lineup Dropper — the take form for a single pick.
  • Parlay and Fantasy slip — the take form for a multi-leg slip.
  • Arbitrage and Promo Converter — the matched-bet take form, where your tags are applied to both legs.

In each of these, the Tags field shows whatever you have selected so far as removable chips, plus an Add tags button. Opening it gives you a search box: type to filter your existing tags, tap one to attach it, or — if the name doesn't exist yet — create it on the spot and it's attached immediately. The tags you pick ride along when the bet is saved, so the entry lands in your tracker already labelled.

New tags are created when the bet saves

Picking an existing tag just attaches it. Typing a brand-new name and creating it adds that tag to your library straight away so you can reuse it. Either way, the entry carries the tag from the moment it's recorded.

Tagging a bet you already saved

Tags are not locked in at creation. To change the tags on an existing wager, open it with the pencil icon on the bet card (on mobile, tap the card) and use the Tags section of the Edit Bet modal — the same search-or-create picker. To tag several bets at once, use bulk-select in the tracker: choose the bets, then apply a tag to all of them in a single action. Bulk-apply is additive — it adds the tag to every selected bet without removing whatever tags they already had.

Tags that tools apply for you

Some take flows pre-stamp tags so common promo plays are labelled without any work from you. The Promo Converter is the main one: depending on the leg, it stamps Free Bet, No Sweat, Low Hold, or Hedge. These are ordinary tags — created or matched by name against your library — so they show up, filter, and export exactly like the ones you make yourself, and you can recolour or rename them in the Tag Manager.

Auto-stamped tags come back if a tool re-stamps them

Because a tool create-or-finds its tag by name, deleting an auto-stamped tag like “Free Bet” removes it from your library, but the next promo bet that needs it will simply recreate it.

Managing your tags

The Tag Manager is where a tag's identity lives — it's the one place to rename a tag, change its colour, or delete it, and it shows how many entries each tag is on so you can see which labels are actually pulling their weight. Renaming or recolouring a tag updates it everywhere it appears at once, since every entry points at the same tag rather than holding its own copy of the text. Deleting a tag removes it from every wager it was on; the wagers themselves are untouched.

Tagging a bet — in any take form, the Edit Bet modal, or bulk-select — only attaches and detaches tags. It never changes a tag's name or colour. That separation is deliberate: you can label freely without worrying about disturbing how a tag looks or reads elsewhere.

Where tags show up

Once entries are tagged, the labels do real work across the tracker:

  • Filtering — the tag filter in the Bet Tracker (and the Performance page) lists your tags and narrows to entries carrying any of the ones you pick. Selecting several tags is an any-of match, not all-of, so it widens the view rather than narrowing it to the intersection.
  • Export — your tags come through in the CSV export as a pipe-separated Tags column, one row per wager. See Exporting your bets.
